A Link Between Autism and Cannabinoids

A recent issue of The Scientist has an article titled “A Link Between Autism and Cannabinoids; Mutations tied to autism in mice lead to deficits in the signaling pathway activated by marijuana.”

Probably the most provocative and interesting sentence in the article is, “Alger added that, if the endocannabinoid system does turn out to be connected to autism in humans, medical marijuana could turn out to hold possibility for treating autism.”

You can find the abstract for the research discussed in this article in the April 11 issue of Neuron: Autism-Associated Neuroligin-3 Mutations Commonly Disrupt Tonic Endocannabinoid Signaling
